![]() ![]() The only confusing thing is that on an OS X host, the mouse pointer is exactly the same as in Openstep (imagine that!) so I can't tell whether the guest has captured it just by the mouse pointer. Mouse acceleration was a little off but after setting it to the lowest setting in Preferences.app and turning down the DPI for the PS/2 mouse in Configure.app (it takes effect instantly), I got a reasonable mouse. (4GB partition limit), so with 15 IDs available it's easier to add another virtual disk. Also SCSI disks can be larger than the 8.4GB limit of the ancient IDE drivers, but you need custom partitioning/disktabs/etc. Supports 15 SCSI IDs - I threw an extra ISO on ID 14 and it worked fine - and performance is great. The only thing I've found online re: BusLogic and Openstep was people saying it did not work in VMware, but in VirtualBox it's worked perfectly for me. VirtualBox recommends using SATA, SAS, or SCSI instead of IDE if the guest OS supports it, so I tried out the BusLogic emulation. However, for my most recent attempt, I explored VirtualBox's storage options, and discovered they can emulate a BusLogic SCSI card, which Openstep supports. I've never bothered messing around with extra driver floppies during installation rather I just used the generic Primary/Secondary dual EIDE/ATAPI driver, and installed the Intel PIIX IDE driver (which supports DMA) later. Use the links below to grab the latest version of Oracle VM VirtualBox for your respective platform.ĭownload Oracle VM VirtualBox 4.3.10 for Mac OS Xĭownload Oracle VM VirtualBox 4.3.10 for Windowsĭownload Oracle VM VirtualBox 4.3.I was about to post that network support has been broken in VirtualBox for several years (specifically, the AMD PCNet emulation, which is the only network card VirtualBox emulates that Openstep has drivers for), but that bug has finally been fixed! After upgrading VirtualBox my Openstep VM can now talk on the network, hooray! These include libxalan-c, libxerces-c, and version 5 of libstdc. On Linux, for instance, you will need to install additional libraries to run VirtualBox. It’s always good to have a decently-specced computer, so as to be able to share the memory, CPU, and storage with the virtual machine. Depending on the platform/OS you’re running it on, you’ll need one or more extra things. The requirements for using VirtualBox are varied. Some Windows additions are mentioned too: “fixed the environment for guest processes” and “fixed divide by zero exception with multiple guest screens under certain conditions.”Ī Linux addition includes “install correctly on Ubuntu guest systems with a /usr/lib64 directory,” and an X11 addition is also highlighted by Oracle: “fix for the VBoxClient process not exiting correctly and consuming too much processor time.” On Mac OS X, the update also prevents local traffic from leaking to wire, according to the release notes. Guest behavior when a storage medium is attached or removed at VM runtime should be normal now. 3D support gains several fixes, and saved states causing guest misbehavior are tweaked to offer more reliability.Īny storage bugs preventing the ability to compact differential snapshots under certain conditions are now gone, and a segmentation fault on Linux hosts is addressed. In the OVF department, a crash of the VirtualBox Manager is patched. A potential crash when opening the preferences menu has been resolved too. The mini-toolbar minimize button has been removed, as it didn’t work under Mac OS X full screen mode.Įxperimental HID LEDs synchronization for Windows and Mac OS X hosts is now available, and keyboard re-synchronization has been fixed. Graphics-wise, OS X customers get experimental native full screen support for Mountain Lion and Mavericks. Single-stepping is fixed for real-mode guests and some I/O instructions, and a potential problem with COW pages is also addressed. Oracle has carried out some more maintenance in the VMM department in order to improve the emulation of some MSR registers on certain host CPUs. Oracle adds a hefty dose of tweaks and fixes, as well as platform-specific enhancements for Mac, Windows, and Linux customers alike. Virtualization software VirtualBox has been promoted to version 4.3.10 Build 92957 today.
